POLICY & SERVICE COMPARISON

The differences are in the detail.

Compare actual care options, published limits and service routes across four UK health insurers.

Compare the named plan, not just the brand

This table covers Bupa Comprehensive, AXA Health Plan, Aviva Healthier Solutions and Vitality’s full health insurance with Core Cover. Optional benefits are identified. Personal underwriting, excesses and policy terms still apply.

Provider source ↗
Underwriting applies

Pre-existing cover depends on underwriting; standard cover targets new, unexpected or short-term conditions.

Provider source ↗
Check your terms

Read personal exclusions in plan documents. Do not assume a current symptom is covered by Core Cover.

Provider source ↗
Price & excessA genuine like-for-like quote is needed for a price ranking.Personal quote

Premium varies by circumstances and cover. Request the excess basis and outpatient allowance in writing.

Provider source ↗
Personal quote

Price depends on the selected care options. Confirm your contribution and consultation limit.

Provider source ↗
Personal quote

Excess is your contribution to eligible claims; cover choices affect premium.

Provider source ↗
Personal quote

An excess may be payable to the healthcare provider; Vitality tells members where to pay it.

Provider source ↗

Included means eligible care under the named configuration, not unrestricted cover. Provider websites summarise benefits; the accepted policy schedule and wording govern a claim. We have not obtained comparable personal quotations.

OUR COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

Four differences worth noticing.

Diagnosis and treatment in one package

Comprehensive includes the diagnostic pathway, but the outpatient allowance still matters. Mental health therapy and other outpatient treatment can draw on that allowance. Choosing no cancer cover materially changes the protection.

Detailed breakdown ↗

The most important detail is the selected combination

The current AXA Health Plan is modular. An outpatient-only policy is not equivalent to hospital and cancer cover. Its three-consultation option can create a different constraint from a monetary outpatient limit.

Detailed breakdown ↗

Broad core benefits, with ways to reduce cover

Core cover includes outpatient care, cancer benefits and a stated outpatient mental health allowance. A cheaper quote may reduce outpatient cover, hospital choice or add a six-week NHS waiting condition. Read the selected options.

Detailed breakdown ↗

Everyday services alongside core hospital cover

The included therapy and physiotherapy sessions are useful distinctions. They are not a substitute for checking wider outpatient and mental health cover. Hospital-list choice and reward conditions deserve separate attention.

WHAT THE EVIDENCE CAN TELL YOU

Service access is not service performance.

We do not invent service scores

The table records available services and claim routes. We have not established comparable, current health-only figures for call waiting times, claims acceptance, settlement speed or complaints per policyholder across all four providers. Those measures are not ranked. Customer ratings are shown separately with their profile scope.
