INCOME PROTECTION REVIEW

Aviva income protection review

A direct income-protection product with a limited payment period, rather than a payout lasting automatically to retirement.

Living Costs Protection

OUR ASSESSMENT

The 12-month payment limit is central to the comparison. Map it against employer sick pay and savings, then consider what would happen if you remained unable to work after payments ended.

Features to compare

  • Aviva's direct Living Costs Protection offers a selected monthly benefit following an eligible illness or injury claim.
  • Payments begin after the chosen deferred period and can continue for up to 12 months per qualifying claim.

Limitations and checks

  • This product does not cover redundancy or unemployment.
  • Eligibility and repeat-claim rules apply. Do not confuse this direct product with other Aviva income-protection contracts sold through advisers.

The question to ask

When would payments begin, when would they stop, and what must happen before a later claim can qualify?

Before arranging cover

Use the current policy wording and your quotation schedule to confirm these points. Our assessment is desk research, not a first-hand claims test or a personal recommendation. We have not assigned a product score or established comparable claims-service performance.

Customer feedback is a separate measure.

A company-wide Trustpilot score can include several products and stages of service. It is not a rating of this particular policy or proof of how a future claim will be handled. We do not transfer a health-policy rating to another product.
