Diagnosis is a separate question
Outpatient care can include specialist consultations, diagnostic tests and treatment without hospital admission. Your chosen policy determines what is included and any limits.
Follow the full pathway
Ask how your plan would handle a GP referral, an initial consultation, a scan and a follow-up. Then ask whether any of these draw on the same limit. This helps reveal differences between apparently similar offers.
Read the options on your quote
An insurer may advertise a service that is available only with a particular option. Check your own benefit schedule. Do not assume “comprehensive” means unlimited cover for every outpatient service.
Before an appointment
Ask who must authorise the appointment, which specialists are recognised and whether any excess applies. Keep the approval details and clarify who will receive the invoice.
